Canada’s labour market showed its first real signs of strain in August, with almost every major indicator pointing to weakening employment conditions, says CPA Canada’s chief economist David-Alexandre Brassard. “Monthly job data can be volatile, but rarely do all labour market indicators move in the same direction,” he says. “August may be the first real crack in Canada’s armour, with job losses, weaker full-time employment and slowing wage growth all pointing to worsening labour market conditions.” Contact media@cpacanada.ca.
