Minister of Internal Trade, President of the King’s Privy Council, Minister for Canada-U.S. Trade, Intergovernmental Affairs, and One Canadian Economy Dominic LeBlanc (Beauséjour, N.B.), along with Janice Charette, Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator to the United States, Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne (Saint-Maurice–Champlain, Que.), and Minister of Industry and Quebec Economic Development Mélanie Joly (Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Que.) met with members of the Advisory Committee on Canada-U.S. Economic Relations to discuss the latest developments in the Canada-U.S. trade relationship and their impact on Canada. LeBlanc provided an update on recent Canada-U.S. trade developments and the implementation of new U.S. tariffs on certain Canadian goods. Champagne provided an update on Canada’s targeted countermeasures, while Joly outlined measures to support workers and businesses affected by the tariffs. They discussed Canada’s response to the tariffs, including efforts to strengthen economic resilience, support affected sectors, build competitive industries at home and expand market opportunities. Contact gabriel.brunet@iga-aig.gc.ca.
