After a constituency week, Parliamentarians return to the House of Commons and to the Senate, where they will work without a break until the winter holidays.

Parlimentarians are taking a constituency week in honour of Remembrance Day, Nov. 11. The will return to Parliament Hill on Monday, Nov. 14.

Bank of Canada Senior Deputy Governor Carolyn Rogers will take part in a fireside chat on “Assessment of risks to the stability of the Canadian financial system,” hosted by Young Canadians in Finance. Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem will deliver opening remarks at the conference on “Diversity and Inclusion in Economics, Finance, and Central Banking” hosted by the Bank of Canada, Bank of England, European Central Bank and Federal Reserve Board. Details online.

Environmental organizations will deliver a petition of 90,000 signatures (and counting) to the Prime Minister’s Office demanding that the federal government follow through on its commitment to cap oil and gas, and ensure that the policy is based on good science, urgency and ambition. The University of Ottawa hosts a lecture, “Breaking the silence conflict-related sexual violence: the role and impact of the United Nations,” featuring Pramila Patten, under-secretary-general and special representative of the secretary-general on sexual violence in conflict, to discuss the evolution of her mandate since its establishment in 2009 as well as her strategic priorities in combating this scourge. … Read more
