Statistics Canada released figures on Wholesale trade for December 2014. Wholesale sales rose 2.5 per cent to $55.4 billion in December. Higher sales were recorded in six of seven subsectors, representing 80 per cent[ of wholesale sales. The motor vehicle and parts subsector as well as the miscellaneous subsector led the gains. February 17 – Statistics Canada – Press Release

Statistics Canada released figures on Canada’s international transactions in securities for December 2014. Foreign investors reduced their holdings of Canadian securities by $13.5 billion in December, led by sizable divestments in bonds and equities. Statistics Canada released a study on “Provincial convergence and divergence in Canada, 1926 to 2011”. Since 1926, provincial per capita incomes tended to converge, but this general trend was periodically interrupted by economic shocks ranging from the Great Depression of the 1930s to the commodity boom of the 2000s. Statistics Canada released figures on Canadian international merchandise trade for December 2014. Canada’s imports increased by 2.3 per cent in December and exports rose 1.5 per cent.
